Sarkozy is just a Blairite

Sarkozy’s speech today must have been music to Brown’s ears:

  • Review of the Common Agricultural Policy,
  • French troops to Afghanistan,
  • Closer collaboration on immigration policy and nuclear energy,
  • Anglo-French alliance at the centre of Europe.

    The EU has been reviewing the CAP since it began, and it has been reformed many times, with no reforms tackling the problem at hand. Whilst it does offer environmental incentives, it still is a disgraceful policy that unfortunately sees just under half of the entire EU budget spent on it. Hopefully the French ‘reviewing’ the CAP means that they wont oppose significant reforms, however this is just wishful thinking.
